Emily Kalina grew up in Vermont and and New
Hampshire where she gained her appreciation for
color in the natural world. She started painting
watercolors in high school and went on to study
illustration at the Rhode Island School of
Design.
After living and showing her work in Northern
Vermont and Western Massachusetts she moved back
to Providence to rejoin the community of
artists. She paints in her studio primarily with
watercolors, but also uses oils and gauche to
create abstract work, landscapes, still lifes,
portraits and commissioned work.
In
addition to painting, Emily is also a teaching
artist working with aspiring artists of all
